FAQ
Questions reporters ask.
Quick answers on how I work, what you’ll get back, and how turnaround and billing work.
Working together
How we work
What’s the difference between scoping and proofreading?
Scoping is editing the rough CAT translation — fixing mistranslates, punctuation, and formatting — done in CaseCATalyst with the full audio. Proofreading is a final error-catching pass before the transcript is finalized, on PDF or in CaseCAT. I recommend every scoped transcript still be proofread afterward for the highest-quality result.
What software do you work in?
I work in CaseCATalyst for CaseCAT proofreading, scoping, and RealTeam. PDF proofreading is software-agnostic — it works for any reporter on any CAT software.
How do I send you my files?
Contact me first so I can confirm I have availability, then send your files by email, Dropbox, Google Drive, or sendthisfile.com. Include your deadline — date, time, and time zone.
What turnaround options do you offer?
Proofreading runs from Standard (48–72 hours) to Expedite (≤ 24 hours); scoping from Standard (5+ days) to Daily (≤ 24 hours). See the full tiers on Services & Rates, or estimate yours with the pricing calculator.
How will my transcript come back?
It depends on the service:
PDF proofreading — errors highlighted in
yellow, corrections in red, and line numbers circled.
CaseCAT proofreading — track changes and
hidden comments.
CaseCAT scoping — full audio, track changes,
and hidden comments.
More detail in the How I work section on Services & Rates.
Do I still need to proofread a transcript you’ve scoped?
Yes — I recommend every scoped transcript still be proofread afterward for the highest-quality result. Scoping edits the translation; a separate final proofreading pass is the best way to catch what’s left before the transcript is finalized.
Are my transcripts confidential? Do you sign NDAs?
Every transcript is kept strictly confidential — NDA available on request.
What are your hours?
9 a.m.–6 p.m. CST, Monday–Saturday. Jobs received after 6 p.m. — and after 6 p.m. Saturday — start the next business day.
Pricing & billing
What it costs
How is pricing calculated?
Everything is priced per page, where a page is 25 lines or fewer. The pricing calculator gives you an itemized estimate by service, turnaround, and page count.
What happens if my scoping file grows?
I bill the pages I return. If a scoping file grows more than 10%, the overage is billed at $2.20/page.
How and when do you bill, and how can I pay?
I bill on the 15th and the 30th. You can pay by Zelle, PayPal, Venmo, or the payment link in your invoice.
